The Quest was one of those jobs that became far more than just another film. I spent months in Thailand, working with Jean-Claude Van Damme, Roger Moore and James Remar, and came home with a lifetime of memories.

There were some extraordinary locations. For two weeks we were up at 5am every morning, taking a jet boat out to Khao Phing Kan, watching the sun come up over the islands on the way to work. Even after all these years, that is something I can still picture clearly.

The production took us all over Thailand, eventually travelling north to the Golden Triangle to film the final sequences. It was my first experience of spending such a long period immersed in that part of the world, and there was plenty of life happening away from the set as well.

I learnt to scuba dive while I was there and came away with my PADI qualification, played golf with James Remar in Hua Hin, and had more than a few beers with Roger Moore. Roger really was a legend — wonderful company and one of those Stars you feel very fortunate to have known and worked with.

There are films where you remember particular effects or individual sequences, and then there are films where you remember the whole experience. The Quest was definitely the latter. The locations, the travelling, the crew, the people we met and the adventures along the way made Thailand an unforgettable chapter of my career.
