Servicing the feature film industry for over 35 years

A large-scale climate disaster epic directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Ian Holm. I worked on practical weather rigs, including high-pressure wind systems, staged floods, sunk sets into water with huge snow and ice effects. Coordinating physical effects across large sets was a challenge — we froze vehicles, flooded streets, and rigged windows to shatter from simulated superstorms. Technically demanding and a lot of fun to be part of. I learned a lot about ice and wax dressing on this project, we litterally sprayed the set with liquid wax which was applied with some specialist kit that had been developed by Darcy at Snow Business. The only scene we filmed outside was the weather base in Scotland exterior. Every other scene you see in the movie is on a stage, quite impressive.
