Directed by Ridley Scott and based on the real events of the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu, this was a relentless, high-intensity shoot. I was a Special Effects Lead Technician, helping to deliver everything from aerial gunfire hits and debris charges to vehicle burns and a full-scale helicopter crash. The coordination across effects, stunts, and camera was military in itself. We worked alongside guys that were actually on the mission and there were days where you could see they were in some way back there, take after take of intense gun fire, squibs and explosions. On a couple of occasions you could see that they were physically shaking, being back in the moment. I Got to ride in a Black Hawk and Little Bird helicopter, what a thrill. Loved being part of this project, another top notch movie by Ridley Scott.
